Random Idea Generation
June 6th, 2009Tomorrow is Drawing Day, and I may need to use the Brainstormer for random drawing ideas.
Some ideas so far
- Conviction, nuclear, forest
- Invention, nuclear, monastery
- miracle Mexican butcher
It seems to like nuclear for me.
Drawing Day ‘09 is Saturday
June 4th, 200975 Ways to Draw More #40
May 22nd, 2009I’ve done #40 from 75 Ways to Draw a few times, it’s lead me to also do #12 (draw my tooth brush) a few times. I did one good toothbrush pic, but I can’t find it. So for now, here’s #40 (look it up).
Strange Dreams
May 13th, 2009I could be bounded in a nutshell, and count myself a king of infinite space, were it not that I have bad dreams
Hamlet
Well I’m not having bad dreams, but definitely odd ones. One might make a fun comic project, and the other dream suggested I start drawing with charcoal (artist charcoal, not bbq charcoal). It was like my subconscious regurgitated what my art teachers tried to teach me.
Happy 3 Months Katrina
May 13th, 2009Katrina is 3 months old today (yay)! This means she can now start playing with those 3 month and older toys.
75 Ways to Draw More, part 2
May 13th, 2009There’s 75 ways, I’ve only listed 5 so far. So here’s the some more. For more info, see Michael Noob’s 75 Ways to Draw More
6 - I’m not a social drawer, so meeting up won’t help. Although one of these days I’d like to get comfortable enough to go to BAAU get together. I may use posting on various boards as my version of #6.
7 - Taken classes, I’m a new dad and I work. When Kat gets a wee bit older, I can take some classes.
8 - Work in progress. I’m doing all sorts of bad doodles.
9 - Also a work in progress. Some mornings are easier than others to do this.
10 - I haven’t been doing this everynight, but I’m starting. I may have to keep a small sketch book by the bed.
Odopod
May 9th, 2009One of the illustration and art rss feeds I subscribe to, Rococo Flow, featured a web drawing app they called Odopod. I gave it a whirl, and this is what I came up with.
Fun little app, and a nice way to share works, but I would have liked a way to save my picture. I ended up doing a screen shot and pasting into a new Photoshop doc. If someone knows how to export works, I’d appreciate the tip.
Scary Lemon’s Guide to Drawing More
May 8th, 2009My friend Nathan (Scary Lemon) gave me his simple guide to drawing more. I hope he doesn’t mind me posting it here.
- Draw more.
75 Ways to Draw More
May 7th, 2009Posting has been sporadic since I’m still getting used to being a parent. My daughter, Kat, is almost 3 months now.
I saw this post over at Drawn.ca called 75 Ways to Draw More, and it looked like a way for me to get back in the drawing groove. I haven’t printed out the booklet, which you can download from here, but I’ve started going through some of the steps. I’m not sure I’ll do them all, or if I’ll do them in order, but I’ll chronicle my progress here.
1 - Already Carry a small sketchbook with me.
2 -Don’t have a favorite pen or pencil, so I’m rotating through a bunch of different pencils or pens till I find one.
3 - Need to take them out more regularly. If I wasn’t so self conscious about my drawings, I might take a drawing break at work.
4 - I tried drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, but didn’t take to it. I may try again later, but I think I’ll pick another book.
5 - I tend to visit the drawingboard.org and deviantart.com for inspiration, I should go back to conceptart.org more often. Maybe I’ll check out the sites he listed later.
I’ll continue this thread later on, for now I need to skip to 10 - make a bad drawing before bed.
